Praise the Lard- Steak and Kids Contest Applications Still Being Accepted

 Aspiring chefs of all ages can "show off their stuff"  at this year's Praise the Lard cook-off in Murphysboro.  Contest organizers report that applications are still being accepted for the 2017 Steak and Kids Cue  team Competitions.  Entry fees are required and include the meat and t shirts. Check the applications for the responsibilities of the participants.  Applications are available for download on their website .

Praise the Lard is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The weekend cookoff starts with a fish fry on Thursday September 21st. Barbecue cook off events begin on Friday. 
Enter or watch the Steak Cookoff on Friday evening from 5:30- 7:30. A Grand Champion buffet is open to the public and begins at 5:30. Tickets are $23 per person.
The Kids Cue is scheduled  on Saturday. Throughout the cookoff judging of barbecue prepared by teams coming from all over the country will be be taking place. The public is invited to come watch how they prepare their specialties and maybe even learn a few of their special "tricks of the trade". Free entertainment will be onstage from 5pm- midnight on Friday and from 2pm- 6pm on Saturday.
