The JCMTD fare schedule shall be made available to the public via JCMTD website and social media announcements in both standard written format. Alternative formats including Braille and large print are available upon request.
One way fares : General Public (ages 16 -59) – $2.00; Seniors (60+) – $1.00; Children (ages 6 – 15) – $1.00
Child age 0 – 5 free of charge –must be accompanied by a paying adult or personal attendant (age 16+)
Personal Attendant, free of charge –must be accompanying children under 5 or a person with a disability
Discount Passes
General public – 10 rides – $15
Seniors (60+) 10 rides – $7.50
Students with ID – $7.50
Children (under 6) – $5.00
30-Day Pass – Unlimited Rides – $25
JCMTD has three (3) buses continually operating on a loop within Carbondale. You can catch a bus at predetermined stops within the city, those stops are:
Schnucks at 915 West Main Street.
Amtrak at 401 South Illinois Avenue.
JC Penney at University Mall (1201 E Main Street.
Wal-Mart at 1450 East Main Street.
JCMTD also has two buses transporting riders between Carbondale and Murphysboro at 8:30am, 9:00am, and 12:00pm.
Pick up location is at the Carbondale Township office, 217 East Main Street, Carbondale.
There are four (4) designated pick up locations in Murphysboro for transportation back to Carbondale.
JCMTD has several other buses operating on a reservation system within Carbondale/Jackson County.

Carbondale
The Saluki Express mass transit system is SIU Carbondale’s answer to parking and traffic problems. SIU Carbondale students, faculty, and staff, as well as the Carbondale community, are encouraged to get on board. Relax and be transported to work, school, or popular destinations such as the University Mall, Illinois Avenue, and Murdale Shopping Center. This convenient system offers seven weekday routes and three weekend routes (while school is in session) and a break route that operates while school is not in session. Full service begins four days prior to the start of the Fall Semester.
