Celebrating Mother's Day in Southern Illinois
Looking for some special ways to celebrate Mother's Day this year? We've got some great ideas.
1) Treat Mom to Brunch
Some of Southern Illinois's favorite restaurants are serving a special brunch in honor of the special "mom" in your life.
2) Plan a family hike together and enjoy the great outdoors.
3)Not the hiking kind, plan a picnic lunch at one of our state and local parks. Giant City in Makanda,Dixon Springs in Golconda, Fort Massac in Metropolis, and Lake Murphysboro are some favorites. 4) Why not cook for her for a change? Plan a special meal for mom on her special day. And nothing is better than including some fresh fruits and vegetables you can pick up at this weekend's farmers markets in Carbondale, Carterville, DuQuoin, Golconda, Herrin, and Marion,
5) Carbondale New School is sponsoring a Plant Sale on Saturday from 8am -noon in Carbondale. This would be a great place to pick up something for mom and help a local school in the process.
7) Jack and Josies in Marion will have pots to personalize and flowers to plant so your littles will have a present for Mom this Mother's Day! The cost is $5 for each Pot. We will be set up for the children to decorate their pot and then pick and plant their own flower choice in each pot. Ready to go for Mother's Day the next day
8))Try your hand at something more personal .Moms love handwritten letters and homemade cards. Help her with some of her daily tasks or plant her garden. Collect photos of you together and make a special collage of precious memories.
Whatever you do, Mother’s Day is about the special Moms in your life. You don't have to spend alot of money to make her feel loved and appreciated.

- Treat mom and family to a wonderful meal at Walker Bluff in Carterville . This special Mother's Day Brunch is scheduled from 11am-4pm at their Legends restaurant.
The buffet is $34.95 for adults and $14.95 for kids.
