Franklin County Rend Lake Rend Lake’s beach, located in the South Sandusky Day Use area, invites water recreationists of all ages. South Sandusky Beach is located on the west side of the lake, just off Rend City Road. The former North Marcum Beach is no longer a designated beach area. Instead it is a Boat-in Rest Area. Both are managed and maintained by the US Army Corps of Engineers. One adult may supervise a maximum of two (2) children this age. Adult must stay within arm’s reach of child. Children not yet toilet trained must wear swim diapers. Children ages 6 – 9 must be accompanied to the pool and supervised by an individual 16 years of age or older. This person may be in the water or on the deck. Children ages 10 – 17 do not have to be accompanied by an adult, but must provide verifiable emergency contact information to the front desk prior to entering the facility. Swimmers under 18 years must pass the Deep Water Swim Test to use the deep end of the pool or the inflatable slide. The beach of the 80-acre lake is open from May through August and includes a concessionaire with snacks and cold drinks for beach-goers. The area also features fishing, bicycling, hiking, horseback riding and camping. Located south of Glendale on Illinois 145 in Pope County, Lake Glendale is pet-friendly and surrounded by tall pine and mixed hardwood trees. For more information on Lake Glendale call 618-949-3807.
