Popcorn Days in Ridgway-
Live entertainment, vendors, amusement rides, games, and lots of free popcorn! Popcorn Day celebration is the second weekend in September every year. During this weekend we have live entertainment, vendors, amusement rides, games, free popcorn, and the big parade on Saturday at 1:00 pm. Ridgway is also home to the unique family owned business, Dinger Bats. Here, the first wooden bat company in Illinois crafts wooden baseball bats for players at every stage of the game from little league to the Major League. Website is www.dingerbats.com. Cache River Days-UllinThe 26th annual event is set for Sept. 10-12 at the ball park in Ullin. Everyone is invited to the three days of family activities, food, music, exhibits and parade. Events will kick off on Friday, Sept. 10, with a community worship service. Scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 11:

Dragon boat racing is an ancient Chinese sport dating back 2500 years. In the early 1990’s, it swept into North America, and today it is the fastest growing team sport. 22 Dragons, out of Montreal Canada provides the event management including all equipment, race day oversight and the professional steersmen for all the teams.

Family Fun Day- Herrin-
The Herrin House of Hope will host the 10th annual Family Fun Day on Sunday, September 12 from 12:30-6:00p to benefit and celebrate our 9 years of operation and service to the Herrin Community on the grounds of Community of Faith Church and also via a VIRTUAL platform this year.c
The 10th Family Fun Day will be a hybrid event that is held LIVE with a full day of family-friendly activities, while also making the event available to those unable to attend through our VIRTUAL FUN DAY PLATFORM. People can come and support activities on the grounds where proceeds support the House of Hope and/or make donations through our on-line portals or through our virtual call-in phone lines. The LIVE EVENT will begin at 12:30p with our opening ceremony including the National Anthem, presentation of the colors and an opening prayer, and welcome by local officials, then we will open up the main stage for a great variety of music all throughout the afternoon, along with our amazing Food Court, Kids Fun Zone and all of our other activities for an incredible day. The parallel broadcasted event will begin with a COUNTDOWN preview show beginning around 12:00p and will go live at 12:30p to provide you an online way to enjoy the day’s events.
Family Fun Day is a family-oriented celebration of the Herrin community and their commitment to helping people in need. Area Bands and Worship Teams from local churches, civic & community organizations will perform throughout the afternoon on the main stage. There is no admission charge for the event or parking fees. Our Food Court this year will feature a big change. We will be featuring some of the area’s great food trucks and local restaurants, in addition to a few of our local church favorite food stands from Family Fun Day over the years. This year Family Fun Day will be adding an amazing Car Show. Our Car Show entertainment zone will be hosted by John Milani’s Big Elvis Rock & Roll Show. Bring your show car out for the day, and enjoy the music, food and children’s activities on the grounds. The Car Show will have numerous recognition and prize categories, all to be announced at 5pm from the main stage. As usual, Family Fun Day will have their signature silent auction and cake walk, which is always a blast and raises great funds for the House of Hope. We will also have the Children’s Fun Zone back, bigger and better. These activities will include children’s games, pony rides, bounce houses and so much more for the kids. John Steve, Director of the Herrin House of Hope, shared, “We will really be kicking up the food offerings all underway at 12:30p. We want to invite everyone to come out after church, bring their families and enjoy lunch and dinner on the grounds from our various vendors who are supporting our efforts to benefit the Herrin House of Hope. Let the kids have a blast in our Children’s Fun Zone and don’t miss our new incredible Car Show. It will be a win-win day. Golconda Shrimp Festival
Golconda Shrimp Fest is back! Head on down for what National Geographic Traveler magazine recognized as the #1 food festival in Illinois! Come join the celebration for one fun-filled day of delicious food, music, crafts, live entertainment and much, much more!
This event is the main fundraiser for our community organization, Main Street Golconda, that works to promote and revive Golconda and our surrounding county.

Kunstfest 2021- Annual German Festival and Art Fair- new Harmony Indiana
The third weekend in September is the time for New Harmony’s largest and most anticipated event of the year—Kunstfest! This celebration of German heritage and art is one of the biggest of its kind in Indiana.
What is Kunstfest?
“Kunst” means “art” in German, and you can expect to see a lot of it. Artists from across the region will sell and showcase their creations. With so many unique pieces, you’re sure to find something you’ll love! Add “fest” – short for festival. Kunstfest is a fun, German festival with art, entertainment, food, and learning opportunities, too!
Arts, Crafts, Antiques and MoreAt Kunstfest, vendors line the streets, showcasing art, gifts, antiques, crafts, and more on Saturday 9am-5pm and Sunday 9am-4pm. Many of the local storefronts will also be open with special promotions during the festival.
Festival Food Be sure to come hungry! We plan to have all of your German favorites — bratwurst, kraut balls, kuchen, apple cider, chicken and dumplings, German potato salad, brain sandwiches, fried bologna, ice cream, kettle corn and more! New Harmony also has delightful restaurants, bars, and a coffee shop that will be open during the weekend.
Entertainment: Events include musical performances of many types. You will hear dulcimer players, blue grass tunes, a few polka selections and some German Folk Music genres. Plus, there will be music Friday evening on the Patio at the Red Geranium. On Saturday evening, don’t miss the Biggest Liar’s Contest at the Murphy Auditorium, a tradition for more than 25 years. Perhaps you want to sign up in advance to compete yourself as a master prevaricator! There are also children’s activities at the family stage at Maclure Square, and more! One of the most popular attractions at Kunstfest is the group of historical craft demonstrations. Each year, children stand in awe as they watch experts demonstrate blacksmithing, rope making, pottery, weaving, spinning and more. Some of these creations will be available for sale, and demonstrators will be present to explain the art of each craft to audiences.
Parking Don’t worry about having to park far away from the festival! Parking will be available at the Atheneum visitor’s center, as well as the former location of the New Harmony School and with shuttles taking visitors to and from the festival.
