Happy St Patrick's Day weekend!
There is something great about starting out the weekend with a holiday. Although it is only supposed to be celebrated on one day, St Patrick's Day celebrations continue throughout the weekend. Families who have young children in Marion and Metropolis can attend special St Patty's Day Story Hours. The Story Hour in Marion begins at 10:00 am and the fun begins in Metropolis at 11:00 am. Other events on Friday's Event calendar include Open Gyms, roller skating, fish frys, and a Mommy and Me dance. If your kids love a parade- don't miss Murphysboro's Annual St Patrick's Day Parade and Community Celebration. Watch the parade at 11am, enjoy corned beef & cabbage at the 17th Street Bar and Grill Warehouse. The Irish Kids’ Fest will feature arts and crafts, games and story telling at the Murphysboro Youth Center, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Kids who like Science and the out of doors will love this weekend;s special presentation rom Free Again Wildlife Rehabilitation at the Science Center at University Mall in Carbondale. Free Again will be bringing a special guest, a barred owl, for kids to learn about. The presentation is included with admission,to the Museum. The cost is $5 per per person, children 2 and under are free, TSC members are always free. The fun kicks off at 2:00 pm If these events don't tickle your fancy, don't despair... there are plenty more listed on the events calendar .
