We're excited to see the return of some of the Community Farmer's Markets ( many others are opening in May) Carbondale's Murdale Farmer's Market is one of the first in the region and has become a Saturday tradition for many families. While you may be tempted to "go it alone" going to the market as a family is a great opportunity to help children learn about the importance of good food and hard work. For those living in Marion, the market will be open from 6 am- 10am at the Senior Center parking lot ( 507 W Main) . The Southern Illinois Earth Sciences Club presents the 55th Annual Gem and Mineral show at The Pavilion in Marion. It is a treat for all ages. Admission is $2, children 18 and under are FREE and there will be door prizes. Come see rare rocks and minerals, Indian Artifacts, Fossils, Shell Crafts, Lapidary Displays and more Kids who love Science are in for a treat this weekend at the Science Center. Members of SIUC's Alpha Chi Sigma are back and this time their will be present Spring Science experiments from 1pm- 3 pm at the museum. Cost is $5 per child and children under 2 are free. Members are always free. Looks like the weather is going to cooperate and it will be a perfect day to enjoy the free food, prizes, giveaways and fun in Pinckneyville at the annual Family Fun Day in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention month. Sunday is a great day for families to spend the day together and enjoy the great outdoors. Take a hike or walk, ride a bike or just spend some quality time together.
