We can 't believe another weekend is here already. It's a special weekend for many families in the region as they come together to celebrate Easter or Passover. Even if this is not true for your family, spend this weekend making memories with the people that you love.
Here are some highlights of this weekend's "kid friendly" activities that will help make that happen.
Schools are closed on Good Friday, meaning families will be looking for something to do with the kids. There are many FREE Easter Egg Hunts scheduled on Friday throughout the region. Check out our ever-growing list here.
Carbondale Park District provides another great option with their "No School-Head to the Pool" Youth Open Swim from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. All regular fees and rules apply.
IAnd if you live near Johnston City, don't forget the Johnston City Farmer's Market is now open for the season. It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day to take the kids to help you pick out some wonderful fruits and vegetables for this weekend's meals.
Saturday's list of activities is long starting out with pancake breakfasts and ending the day with a chicken and dumpling dinner. Young children and their parents can spend some time "Making Music with the Belletones " at the Carbondale Public Library, while kids ages 12-19 can enjoy Teen Games at the public library in Marion. Both events are FREE of charge.
We love the Kids in the Woods series at the Cache River Wetland Center. This month's offering is called "Looking Up Looking Down". Its FREE and a fun experience for parents to do with their kids. Reservations are suggested and you can make one easily by
It seems like the Science Center is always on our list of highlights, and this weekend is no exception. This weekend they once again welcome their friends from Free Again Wildlife Rehabilitation . Kids will be able to learn about this weekend's special guest, a turkey vulture.

The fun kicks off at 2:00 pm!
Further north, families can enjoy some Family Art Fun and make kites at the Cedarhurst Center for the Arts. The event is FREE and no registration is required.
Sunday is the day many kids have been waiting for as the Easter Bunny decides to visit and leave a few goodies. If you are lucky enough not to have to work on Sundays, take the opportunity to spend some quality time with the kids. Put down your computers and phones, play board games or make a Sunday meal together. You will never get these precious minutes back..... so make them count.
