Saturday May 13th
What is more important than mom's health? Why not go together to the Health Fair in Pinckneyville sponsored by the Pinckneyville Community Hospital. In addition to FREE activities and displays, reduced rate vouchers for lab screenings can be purchased.
If your family loves the outdoors you may enjoy the International Migratory Bird Day Festival- sponsored by Crab Orchard Wildlife Refuge in Marion. The FREE event begins at 9:30 and includes a basic bird watching course, followed by a guided hike where we will practice everything learned in the presentation. Through the guided hike you will have many photo opportunities.
Nest Arts in Carbondale is offering two Mother's Day craft workshops for kids... but moms can participate too if they want. Flower pot painting begins at 11am and Birdhouse painting at 2pm. Registration is required and there is a fee of $25 that includes all materials.

Take the most special lady in your life out for tea, sandwiches and sweet treats the day before Mother’s day at the Carbondale Super Splash Park. . Soak up the sunshine while showing her how much she means to you! Tickets are $15 and the lunch begins at 11 am.
The Dayemi Annual Spring Fair is also taking place in Carbondale from 11am- 3pm.
t's Spring and that means it's time for the the Dayemi Family Center's annual Spring Fair.. There will be some amazing live music by the Sycamores, DJ Special K and, of course, yummy fair food which will also include a variety of empanadas and non alcoholic mojitos this year. Also, since it is Mother's Day Weekend there will be a host of great items at their Silent Auction and a chance to make a Mother's Day Card. All proceeds will go towards operating costs and tuition assistance at the Dayemi Family Center.
Looking for something different to do with mom. Take her skating! Moms can skate for FREE and receive free skate rentals on Saturday from 1-4 pm and 7:30- 11:00 pm in at Sk8 in Harrisburg. And if skating isn't her thing, the family can go to a FREE Sustainable Cooking event at Hootin Annies, Touch of Nature in Makanda. Hootin’ Annies is a fun family evening program for all ages. It combines the flavor of a park ranger-style program with a good old-fashioned campfire program. It will feature a guest speaker presenting an environmentally based subject along with guest musicians and the musical talents of the Touch of Nature environmental education staff These events always are great fun and this one will no no exception.

Its Mother's Day and a good time to give Mom the day off.
