Friday means its story time in Marion and Metropolis. Both of their libraries hold special family story hours each Friday. Marion;s is at 10:00 am and Metropolis at 11:00 am They provide a great opportunity for young children and their parent/caregiver to interact together, read some books and have some fun. Friday night bring the much anticipated "Beauty and the Beast" to the Marion Cultural Civic Center. The show starts at 7:00 pm and tickets are $15. There is a repeat performance on Saturday at the same time. Adapted from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass, "Scene from Alice is being performed at the . at the Anna Arts Center on Friday, April 28, at 7 pm, Saturday, April 29, at 2 pm, or Sunday, April 30, at 2 pm. Tickets are $5 for 12 and under and $15 for adults. Mad City Money™ gives youth (Junior & Senior High) a taste of the real world - complete with occupation, salary, spouse, student loan debt, credit card debt, and medical insurance payments. They make mistakes - and suffer the consequences of their decisions - in a realistic, but safe, environment. Once the shock wears off, they reevaluate choices and manage their money effectively. Sponsored by the SIU Credit Union and scheduled for Saturday from 11am- 1pm, this event is FREE and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. The Hub in Marion is a great place to take the kids if they like to swim and play in the water. The Hub's pool is open from 8:30 am-7:00 pm and the recreation pool features a waterslide, lazy river, wading pool. Check here for information on their day passes and costs. If swimming isn't their thing, perhaps your kids would like to try roller skating. Sk8 Country bin Harrisburg is open Saturday night from 7:30 pm - 11:00 pm for "Band aid sk8" free admission with a box of band aids. Kids don't know how to skate- All Sk8 in DuQuoin offers beginners skate classes for $10 and then the skater can stay for the afternoon skate for free. The skating center is open from 1:00 - 4:00 on Saturday for family skate time. Admission cost is $5 plus skate rental. If you are up for a drive and don't mind the rain, there are many options in St Louis , Evansville, Paducah and Cape Girardeau. Check out our "ever growing" list of great places to visit here.
