Benton Fall Festival:
4-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, Benton Square. This year's Fall Festival is set to be a spooktacular event! So, dress up in your favorite costume and come join in the fun! Festivities around the Square from 4-8 p.m. include laser tag on the lawn of the Courthouse, a mega balloon drop from our new aerial fire truck, Trunk or Treat, costume contests, music, fall decor and more! We've also got the West City smoke house on hand, food vendors, face painting and a photo booth planned for the evening!
If you're up for a little scare, Pate's Funeral Home is hosting a hayride, with a route going right past the old cemetary and down to the "haunted" park, organized by BATS Inc.
When the Square reopens at 8 p.m., everyone is invited down to the ballfields for a spooky movie showing on the bigscreen!
The entire evening is packed full of fun for the whole family! We hope to scare you there!

each October the streets of Downtown Mt. Vernon are packed and overflowing with friends and families, live performances, incredible foods and celebrations of autumn. In its fifth year, the Mt. Vernon Fall Fest theme is "My Hometown." You'll see the theme permeating throughout the entire three-day festival where locals and visitors alike will feel at home in Mt. Vernon! Classic favorites return with exciting new events. The Tri-State Treasure Hunt, a new 5k for Special Olympics, a Car and Motorcycle Cruise-In and even a "Great Pumpkin Contest" will be held. Local brewers will be onsite throughout the weekend to offer tastings of their Southern Illinois crafts and wines. Southern Illinois Irish Festival at Walkers Bluff
he 21st annual Southern Illinois Irish Festival will be coming to Walker’s Bluff for two days of outdoor concerts, Scottish Highland Games, whiskey tastings, children’s activities, and more.
The Festival dates are Saturday, October 7, from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m., and Sunday, October 8, from noon until 6 p.m. Admission is $10 per adult.
Saturday’s stage lineup includes Heartstrings at noon, The Dorians at 12:50, The Brianna Brown Band from St. Louis at 2:10 and 3:20, and Blackberry Blossoms at 4:35.
Sunday’s lineup includes the Johnston City Scottish duo Roisín Dubh at 1:00 and 3:35, and the Metro East band Celtica at 2:20 and 4:50.
On both days, the Ancient Athletes from Springfield will be performing Scottish Highland Games on the field, and Kinmundy piper Sean Folsom will demonstrate bagpipes of the world in a tent. Whiskey tastings will be ongoing both days, 21 or over. Food vendors and merchandise vendors will also be on site, along with bouncy structures for children. Professor Play will be making balloon creations for children on Sunday afternoon.

Pickin' at the Patch is a Fall Market Day on our centennial family farm! There will be creative vendors of Vintage, Primitives, Rust & Junk, Antique and Handmade items! Big Blue's Que, shopping, along with our fresh-picked apples, apple cider donuts and cider slushes will make for a great fall junkin' atmosphere around our pumpkin patch! There will be an outdoor photo booth in the patch to help you remember Fall Market Day! $1 Admission collected to help support Bald Knob Cross.
